Holidays as the Rand Tumbles!
16 April 2008
Introduction
As higher interest rates, food, petrol & electricity prices connive
to give consumers economic nausea it is the outbound travel industry
that is challenged to offer holiday solutions to the stressed individual
looking for a desirable holiday that will offer a worthwhile return
on his holiday investment. A 7 night package to an exotic destination
that may have cost under R10000 last year is now hard to find, even
a 3 star resort in Mauritius are in excess of R12000 for a pay for
6 stay for 7 night package. |

Computravel, the hybrid site that blends the convenience
of the web with the time honoured expertise of the conventional
travel agent.

Why
use Computravel?
Booking through an agent who
is in tune with all the trustworthy tour operators

of an internet throw of the dice. |

Exotic Bali, the original island paradise!
Remember those outrageously
low packages in the nineties when Bali was the flavour of the
month and South Africans were flocking there in their droves.
Well Bali
is back and even better! If you are looking to do
more than just laze on the beach then visit Bali’s interior
region, where you can visit remote villages and attend a local
festival procession. Continue to Ubud, renowned for art galleries,
cafes, shops, secret walkways surrounded by traditional Balinese
villages and lush rice fields. Enjoy river rafting, mountain
biking, cooking classes, shopping tours or visit temples, villages
and markets = so much to see so little time! |

Mauritius
Mauritius is always on most South Africans wish list for a relaxed
hassle-free holiday….it’s a short flight to one
of many great resorts, no visas, no malaria tablets and the friendliest
of people who have mastered the art of leisure tourism. Troux
au Biches is one of the legendary grande dames of the island – I
was there on honeymoon a long, long time ago, Brigitte Bardot
happen to be staying there at the same time as were some famous
UK politicians, so it had established a reputation way back then
in the mid seventies. Since then I have visited several times
and the location always takes my breath away its laid back sophistication
is the draw card for many of its regulars. The resort was to
be closed for a refurbishment but that has been delayed until
after the 2008 festive season and Beachcomber are offering a
never to be repeated offer valid from 1 May to 30 June 2008.
You won’t be disappointed make that booking enquiry now
before its too late! |

Thailand
To get the best return on your hard earned, receding, rand one
must obviously go to destinations which have a healthier foreign
exchange rate. That is Thailand where
you get about 3.7 Baht (BHT) to the Rand (1 ZAR) Shop up a typhoon
with ‘one night
in Bangkok – where the worlds your oyster’! Make
sure you visit the colourful floating market of Damnernsaduak.
Thereafter hit one or several of the laid-back exotic islands,
such as Koh Samui, Krabi. Phi Phi, Koh Lanta or popular Phuket for
a bit of R&R during the day and fun entertainment in
the evening. You won’t be disappointed. |

Our neighbour Namibia
is a great holiday destination. Its haunting
beauty, wide-open spaces, quaint towns and villages, magnificent
