A smorgasbord of holidays to unwind, relax and rejuvenate!
05 March 2008
Introduction Leisure Travel is becoming more meaningful, more curious and more
extreme! Seasoned travellers, these days, want to participate in
a holiday that has a measure of risk and excitement. Basking lazily
on a beach in some gated luxury resort no longer satisfies the expectations
of many an avid traveller, who is looking for excitement and adventure.
That exhilarating rush of adrenalin one has when white water rafting,
canoeing down a river, cycling through Umbria, climbing Everest,
the Andes or Mount Kilimanjaro, trailing through the forests of the
Amazon, trekking along the ice in Antarctica or boarding a space-ship
into outer space is what motivates, moves and inspires. These are
the kind of activities that involve a little bit of risk, are unique,
and authentic, stretching the imagination and creating potent memories
to enrich the tapestry of ones life. According to obvious trends
in the leisure travel industry adventure travel is the fastest growing
segment.
There are some other noticeable travel trends happening,
such as getaway weekends for the girls! Just as men for years have
gone huntin, shootin, fishin and golfin, for weekends away so more
women are leaving the men at home for extreme adventure and fun breaks.
I was interested to read that more than 50 % of adventure travellers
are women and most are between the ages of 41 and 60! This is according
to statistics I read on an interesting travel site, called journeywomen.com.
An increasing number of women are also choosing themed holidays,
where they learn fabulously exotic culinary skills, attend art classes,
practice Yoga, play bridge or study music. All happening in the heavenly
environment of a French Chateau, a spiritual retreat or serene spa!
So it seems that many of today’s travellers are in search of something completely
different! |

Northern
Mozambique, the Quirimbas
Mozambique has all the treasures for a perfect beach holiday. The
Pemba Beach Hotel in northern Mozambique is set amongst palm trees
and landscaped gardens, with a rim-flow salt-water swimming pool
overlooking a sun-kissed beach and the Indian Ocean beyond. The hotel
resort has a magnificent Spa, which seems to hover magically above
the Indian Ocean. The spa's hot and cold treatment rooms, steam rooms,
saunas and showers are designed to merge indoor and outdoor pampering
against a backdrop of the shimmering Quirimbas ocean. An array of
treatments, from Swedish massages, to milk baths, body brushes, body
wraps and facials are designed to restore even the most jaded city
soul. This is the perfect location for a 5-night escape from the
daily grind of stress and deadlines in business. The coral reefs
of the Quirimbas Archipelago, comprising 32 islands, offer countless
undiscovered dive sites with spectacular scuba diving and snorkeling. |

Victoria
Falls
A trip to the Vic Falls is obligatory for all South Africans.
If you have not seen and experienced this spectacular natural
wonder of the world, now is the time to go. The Local people
call it "Mosi-oa-Tunya" - the smoke that thunders
and it is a truly remarkable sight. There is magic in the towering
column of spray when the river is high, the thunder of the
falling water, the terrifying abyss and tranquil lagoons upstream
in which hippo and deadly crocodiles lurk. A 2-night package
is ideal for the traveller who has not seen this extraordinary
spectacle. |

Buenos
Aires – the Paris of the south!
Buenos Aires, often called the Paris of the South and the home of
the sensual and tantalising Tango, is a great city to visit. There
is plenty to do on a 7-night package, which includes a half-day city
tour and a night out to a Tango Show and delicious dinner. Buenos
Aires is a shopper’s paradise, particularly if you are looking
for leather goods and cashmere sweaters at bargain prices! |

Cruising
Why do so many people cruise and why is it the fastest growing sector
of travel? Cruising is fun. Cruises offer value. Cruises provide
an opportunity to visit world-famous destinations that some would
never be able to afford if they had to pay for the food, transportation
and accommodation separately. Cruising is about relaxation, turning
off all electronic handcuffs and becoming immersed in the magic
of sailing the oceans of the world! Computravel has loads of
exciting cruises to offer, from Petersburg to Moscow, Venice
to Istanbul and Cape Town to Namibia’s rugged West Coast
and then back to Durban.
A great family deal is Costa Cruises as children under the
age of 18 years (sharing with adults) cruise for free on
most departures & only pay for certain service fees! Costa
Cruises are available for short breaks from 3 nights in the Mediterranean
and the Far East. Longer cruises from 7 nights up to 26 nights in
fascinating destinations like: The Middle East, Mediterranean,
Far East, Seychelles, Indian Ocean, Caribbean, South America, Northern
Europe and Transatlantic. The amenities on board will meet every
discerning traveller’s needs. Offering you all the stylish
features and modern conveniences to feel at home while on holiday.
Let Computravel’s consultants help you find your next long-awaited
escape to paradise!
